International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) motor starters are contactors with overload relays and used for turning an electrical motor on/off, reversing motion and providing protection for overloads in electrical equipment. They are similar to National Electrical Manufacturers' Association (NEMA) motor starters, but are smaller in size and quicker to find detection of overload conditions.
Non-reversing starters are designed with one phase line that connects to and runs voltage through the motor. The starter is used to turn a motor on and off.
